"Laura Oliver has been practising exclusively in the area of family law for 26 years.  She has advocated at all levels of the Ontario courts, she is trained Collaboratively and she is a Dispute Resolution Officer in the Milton Court.

Laura started practising in the boutique family law firm of Harper Jaskot in Hamilton upon her call to the Bar.  In 2000 Laura joined (Madam Justice) Francine Van Melle in practice in Oakville and upon Ms. Van Melle’s elevation to the bench, took over her practice.  Laura operated as a sole practitioner from 2000 to 2023.  On September 1, 2023 Laura merged with another local family law firm and took on the role of Managing Partner at Ruso & Associates. 

Laura firmly believes that being an advocate is appreciating what your client’s needs are in navigating their divorce.  Not all client’s needs are the same.  That is why Laura has not only honed her litigation skills but had trained collaboratively and undertaken the CDS training.  All of these skills help her develop an approach that will most effectively serve her clients.  Laura also strongly believes that the delivery of legal services operates within the realm of customer service and so she also calls back to her early years of retail training when developing her client focused case plans."
