Janis Carey, PhD, is a Denver real estate broker with more than 25 years of experience across economic consulting, higher education, and real estate. She previously held the role of Vice President at Analysis Group, where she managed large case teams and worked closely with attorneys on complex corporate litigation involving valuation and market strategy. She also was a professor of economics at the Colorado School of Mines.

Janis became a real estate broker twelve years ago, combining her analytical background and communication skills to help people make well-informed real estate decisions. She brings integrity, discretion, and the adaptability needed to navigate each client’s unique circumstances.

Buying or selling a home is rarely just a financial transaction—it is often tied to significant life events. During a divorce, housing decisions are difficult and have both immediate and long-term consequences. Clients in this situation benefit from a real estate agent with specialized expertise who can help them avoid common pitfalls and identify housing solutions that are feasible during the transition and financially sound for the long term. Having navigated a divorce herself, Janis understands this personally as well as professionally.

Recognizing the critical need for high-quality, accessible resources, Janis co-founded and co-directed Blue Iris: Divorce Resources for Women. As part of that work, she organized events and led panel discussions featuring family law attorneys, financial planners, mental health professionals, mortgage brokers, and real estate agents.

To strengthen the support she provides clients navigating divorce, Janis became a Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS®). The CDS program includes specialized communication training and modules on the legal, financial, and residential aspects of divorce.

Janis has an AB from Princeton University and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
